I
have been
involved with photography for 25 years, starting with black and white
and darkroom efforts, evolving into color, and for the last
6
years moving to almost completely digital. My interests started
with landscape and nature, but over the last 10 years, since
the birth of
my daughter, have included much childrens' and lately adult protraiture.
A love
of the outdoors and nature has been a major influence in my photography,
enhanced by time spent in the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, trekking
in the Himalayas, and especially summers in Weekapaug, R.I. A
quiet beach community in southwestern Rhode Island, Weekapaug
has afforded me extended stays around the seashore coupled with
the leisure time to spend taking pictures of kids, beaches,
ocean, etc.
Several
courses at the New England School of Photography have been instrumental
in my recent development, especially in the area of portraiture.
I still do a considerable amount of landscape, scenics, and nature
work, which is mostly what is on display on this website. Setting
up a small studio in my home recently has enhanced
my abilities in portraiture..
Although
I am an amateur photographer, and by profession a doctor, I spend
much of my free time on image making and processing -- that is,
when not involved with my family (although I'm accused of trying
to do both at the same time). I have been selling images on
a limited basis of family portraits, beach
and vacation scenics, and landscape photographs. I would like
to develop more of the business side of these efforts.
My
major cameras include a Nikon D1X, Nikon Coolpix 4500
and 5000, and recently a Hasselblad H1 with a Kodak Proback 645H.
I use a fast Dell system, Adobe Photoshop, and primarily an Epson
2200 printer. Before digital, a Nikon F100 was my tool of choice.
